Treehotel offers you a unique hotel experience: treerooms with contemporary design in the middle of unspoiled nature. Here you can forget about the time constraints of everyday life, enjoy the serenity, and rejuvenate in a sophisticated yet familiar environment.

Treehotel is located in Harads, near the Lule river, about 100 kilometers from Luleå airport. The village has a population of about 600 and features a restaurant, shop and guest house. When you arrive at Treehotel, you check in first at Britta’s Pensionat. Then it’s just a short stroll through the beautiful nature to your treeroom.

The Concept
Why not create a hotel that gives people a chance to experience nature amongst the tree-tops, while also providing a uniquely designed housing experience? These questions led to the creation of Treehotel in Harads – a place where nature, ecological values, comfort and modern design are combined for an exciting adventure.

Treehotel was inspired by the film ”The Tree Lover” by Jonas Selberg Augustsen. It’s a tale of three men from the city who want to go back to their roots by building a tree house together. “The Tree Lover” is a philosophic story about the significance of trees for us human beings.

The idea behind Treehotel is to offer high-standard accommodation in a harmonious place where daily stress melts away. Guests can relax and renew their energy while surrounded by unspoiled nature.

Together with some of Scandinavia’s leading architects, we created our uniquely designed “treerooms.” The rooms are suspended 4-6 meters above ground - all with spectacular views of the Lule River.

A very important part of our concept is to consider ecological values and make minimal environmental impact. For this reason we devote considerable resources to finding sustainable construction and energy solutions
The experience
At Treehotel in Harads you’ll have an unforgettable experience that starts with a friendly reception at Britta’s Pensionat before you’re guided to your treeroom. Each treeroom is a unique creation by Scandinavia’s leading architects. The modern design combined with the quiet of the forest creates an instant feeling of luxurious relaxation.

As a guest you can enjoy all meals at Britta’s Pensionat served by your hosts Kent and Britta in a genuine 1930’s-1950’s setting. The warm and cozy atmosphere at Britta’s, combined with the treerooms’ contemporary design, creates an entirely unique dimension for you as a Treehotel guest. For guests who prefer privacy, meals can of course be delivered to your treeroom.

A weekend at Treehotel offers a variety of both summer and winter activities. But many guests choose to simply enjoy the quiet, timelessness and harmony that are found in the tree and surroundings. A good book, a magical view and stylish accommodation are enough to create the feeling Treehotel is all about.
Treehotel is built on the genuine experience of nature, so it’s a given that sustainability and ecological values are two pillars of our hotel operation.

We build our treerooms in the natural forest while hardly affecting the surroundings. We choose material and construction techniques that make as little environmental impact as possible. We build on live trees without destroying the tree and we do not chop down any trees or damage nature while building. Mostly we use local construction companies.

We have chosen Eco outdoor wood floor, which doesn´t contain any chemical substances. The wood is heated to over 200 degrees, which triggers their intrinsic resistance to protect against destruction.

The treerooms all have good insulation and are warmed up by underfloor heating. The electricity is supplied locally from green hydroelectric power. And the lighting consists of low-energy LED-systems.

Daily operations have minimal impact on nature as well. The treerooms have no sewage system and when cleaning, we always use eco-friendly products.

Each room has a modern, environmentally friendly combustion toilet where everything is incinerated at 600 °C. The toilets are completely odourless and powered by electricity. Mirrorcube, on the other hand, has a freezing-toilet, also electrically powered and completely odourless. In winter, it also contributes to heating.

Bathrooms have water-efficient sinks with running water sufficient for washing hands, face and brushing teeth. All wastewater is collected in a container that is emptied daily. Showers are located in a separate building.

We do hope that you, as our guest, appreciate our sustainability work, even if it does make your accommodation a bit simpler. While we want to have our hotel in the middle of nature, we want to do it on nature’s terms.
