Andrea Palladio and Contemporary Architects
Villa Foscari La Malcontenta
Open 12 Sept - 23 Nov 2008
To celebrate the 500th anniversary of Andrea Palladio's birth (1508-2008), La Malcontenta invited Zaha Hadid Architects
to design and build two installations within Villa Foscari La Malcontenta, to initiate a dialogue between Contemporary
Architects and Palladio breaching five centuries of architectural discourse. For this exhibition, curated by architect
Giulia Foscari, Zaha Hadid and Patrik Schumacher explored the generative potential of the harmonic proportional system
introduced by Palladio in Villa La Malcontenta.”

Lotus
Corderie dell'Arsenale, Campo dell'Arsenale, Castello, Venice
Open 12 Sept - 23 Nov 2008
The ‘Lotus' is a system of enfolded furnishings through which one can seduce and engage the immediate and more
distant world. This room fluctuates between two extreme states: one which is highly condensed and exclusive of its
surroundings and the other which is unfolded, dispersed and interlocked into its environment.  Reconfiguration is also a
means towards appropriation and personalization.

Experimentation within a Long Wave of Innovation
Italian Pavilion, Giardini della Biennale
Open 12 Sept - 23 Nov 2008
Zaha Hadid Architects have authored several hundred projects  - over a period of 30 years -  in a unified effort: the quest for
architecture to take on the dynamic complexity of contemporary society. At the same time there is a cumulative build up of
virtuosity, resolution and refinement. This is a function of the consistency of agenda, ambition and values that allow us to
build achievement upon achievement.

Capital Hill Residence
Russian Pavilion, Giardini della Biennale
